Yousef Ghasemzadeh (he/him)

Yousef Ghasemzadeh is a third-year Life Sciences Honours student at Queen’s University with a passion for amplifying the voice of equity-deserving groups. He’s led impactful initiatives as the President and Co-Founder of Queen’s Public Health Brigades, supporting sanitation efforts in Honduras and advocating for equal healthcare access. Yousef brings a strong foundation in social media strategy, event planning, and advocacy.

As Editor-in-Chief of QJERS, Yousef is dedicated to fostering meaningful discussions on racial and social issues within the Queen's community. He envisions QJERS as a platform where critical conversations and diverse perspectives converge. He believes such conversations help in making culturally-competent professionals in health, law, and business across Canada.

Salma Kinawi (she/her)

Salma Kinawi is a third-year Biotechnology Honours student at Queen’s University, dedicated to supporting undergraduate voices on issues of equity, multiculturalism, and inclusivity. She aims for the journal to serve as a platform that empowers students to thoughtfully engage with the complexities of race, ethnicity, and cultural identity. Through her work, she seeks to create a respectful and open environment that fosters dialogue on these important topics, encouraging students to share perspectives and contribute to a broader understanding of diversity and equity.

Editing and engaging with diverse perspectives is one of Salma’s greatest passions, and she has been actively involved in editing for some time. She finds immense value in working with different viewpoints and helping shape ideas into clear, impactful narratives. This experience has deepened her commitment to promoting thoughtful discussion and honing editorial skills to ensure each voice is authentically represented. Salma is excited to bring this expertise to the new project, where she aims to continue fostering meaningful dialogue and supporting contributors as they share their unique insights.
